Creative camp

The creative camp was foreseen for the 15-35 olds, young people who are interested in community building, the joy of working together, preserving traditions and, last but not least, those who like to create in their free time, as well as those who are enthusiastically involved in the world of art and the increasingly popular youth festivals. There were 30 participants in the camp. On the first day of the camp, we welcomed the participants, they occupied their rooms on the neighbouring grange, and then we started our program with a meet-and-greet workshop led by Szinita Béres. In the evening, Szinita Béres gave a lecture on the ethno-house and traditional folk architecture. During the camp, our aim was to help with the stage decoration necessary for the Róka Youth Fest, the young people worked on making the stage more attractive. A wooden frame was added to the existing stage, which was carefully decorated with original motifs which were designed on the spot, favouring the use of natural raw materials. Since the location of the camp is in a nature conservation area, we encouraged the young people visiting the grange to selectively collect their waste and we also coloured the garbage cans accordingly.

On the second day, we presented the plans- what we were going to make, how it should look, what well’make it from, and then the planning and design began. The participants got acquainted with the raw materials and the possibilities of their processing. During the camp, creativity and freedom of creation were an important aspect, so we also designed unique drawings and boards which were used to mark the different locations. Sinita Béres gave a lecture about the folk life and customs of Ludas in the past. On the third day, we started the decoration of the stage, the processing of the wood and cutting it to size. That day, we were visited by Gordana Vukov Ciganjik, who gave a presentation about the work of the “Klara i Rosa” Association, the importance of their creative workshops, and during her presentation she also strengthened the relationships between the campers with interactive games. On the fourth day, we continued the production of stage elements, we attached the boards, sanded them, and cut them to size, while we also continued the individual work, where everyone could create according to their own creative ideas and thoughts. Tibor Fejődi, carpenter, gave a lecture, and he introduced the campers to the secrets of woodworking and helped them progress with their work. On the fifth day, we started painting the decorations based on the plans prepared on the second day. The 4-meter-high part of the stage was first assembled on the ground and painted there, after which it was put in place. The camp residents tried to use colours which retain the originality of the wood but are in harmony with the landscape where the work was created. Taking advantage of the location, the young people bathed in the lake and washed off the fatigue caused by the heat and physical work unknown to many of them. Szinita Béres gave a lecture on the characteristics of local folklore. On the sixth day, we finished the unique boards, installed them in their place, and then worked on the finishing touches of the stage decoration. Aniko Plavšić, psychologist and Simóna Urbán P., psychology student, held a creative self-knowledge workshop to the participants during which they got to know their individual creativity better. On the seventh and last day, we finished all the works, completed the finishing touches, realized the idea and the works, and had a musical evening.
